A Bortigali la musica per i riti della Settimana Santa è affidata a un quartetto di soli uomini detto chidasantinu.
Il Venerdì Santo, oltre a due canti con testo in latino, Miserere e Stabat Mater, durante il rito dell’adorazione della croce si esegue l’Otava trista.
Il testo è composto da una quartina di versi ottonari con rima (ABBA).
Il canto è introdotto dal bassu che intona una coppia di versi, poi ripetuti dalle quattro voci.

The music for the Holy Week rites in Bortigali is entrusted to an all-male quartet called “chidasantinu”.
On Good Friday, during the ritual of the Adoration of the Cross the “Otava trista” is sung, along with two other songs in Latin,“Miserere” and “Stabat Mater”. The text is composed of a quatrain of rhymed eight-syllable lines (ABBA).
The song is introduced by the “bassu” who sings a couple of lines, which are then repeated by the four voices.
